Silk Road by Train

13th – 29th May, 2018

The Silk Road  was an ancient network of trade routes that were for centuries central to cultural interaction through regions of the Asian continent connecting the East and West and stretching from the Korean peninsula and Japan to the Mediterranean Sea. The Silk Road derives its name from the lucrative trade in silk (and horses) carried out along its length, beginning during the Han dynasty (207 BCE – 220 CE).

This journey follows the route Silk Road throughout China, starting in Beijing in the far East of China, we then fly to the ancient city of Xian, famous for the Terracotta Warriors, and the travel along the Silk Road trading route by train to Kashgar in China’s far West. As a final stop we fly to Urumqi, capital of the Uygur Autonomous Region, nestled in the foothills of the snow-capped Tianshan Mountains, before flying back to Beijing.
